Keefer provides each guest with an avalanche transceiver and an avalanche airbag backpack, equipped with a collapsible shovel, an avalanche probe, and personalized water bottle. Personal avy gear is not allowed.
Skis and Boards
If you have powder skis or boards that you love riding, bring them! Keefer also has demo skis and snowboards on-site for guests who don't have suitable equipment or who prefer to use GKLL's gear, for no additional cost.
Radio Communications
All guests are required to have a radio with them at all times when out in the mountains to communicate with the guiding team. The radio will be provided by Keefer and must be used by our guests.
Avalanche Transceiver
BCA Tracker S
Each guest is given a BCA Tracker S Avalanche Transceiver. At the beginning of each tour all guests will go through a training session with the guiding team to show you how to use and wear the device. You will also be trained on how to put your probe and shovel together. Each night after skiing the guiding team will check each beacon to make sure each one is functioning properly and has fresh batteries, and ensure the shovel and probe are in working order. You are required to use our gear while skiing with us. Personal avalanche safety equipment is not permitted to be used.

BCA Float Bags
All guests at Keefer Lake Lodge are assigned a BCA Float Avalanche Airbag to use during your trip. These packs are mandatory. Your provided probe and shovel will live in the front designated pockets and you will have enough room to store extra layers in your pack as well as a water bottle. You will be shown how to fit and deploy the pack by one of the guides. Personal avalanche airbag backpacks are not permitted to be used.
