Catskiing Trip Checklist

Wondering what you need?

Catskiing is physically demanding. It will be beneficial to start a physical conditioning routine for a couple of months prior to your arrival. You should have several days under your belt at your local resort before the trip. We also recommend a warm-up day or two at Silver Star Mountain Resort or Big White so your legs are ready for the shred days at Keefer Lake Lodge.

    • Your boots - Don’t forget to pack your ski or snowboard boots in your carry-on in case your luggage gets delayed or goes missing. We can provide you with skis and snowboards but boots are up to you—please be sure to bring them. Wear them on the plane if you have to!
    • Your skis - you are welcome to bring your fav POW skis. If you want to use ours, we do have a selection of demo skis available for you to use at no charge (DPS, Salomon, Folsom). Please note that you are responsible for any loss, damage, or breakage of demo/rental equipment. In the event of loss or damage you will be responsible for repair or replacement charges. BRING YOUR OWN BOOTS.
    • Your snowboard - if you have a POW board you like to rip, bring it. If you would like to use one of ours at no charge, we have a selection of demo boards from Lib-Tech, Capita, Spring Break, Cardiff, and YES. Please note that you are responsible for any loss, damage, or breakage of demo/rental equipment. In the event of loss or damage you will be responsible for repair or replacement charges. BRING YOUR OWN BOOTS.
    • Outerwear - remember to bring good outerwear—ski pants, jacket, gloves, goggles, helmet, balaclava, ski/board socks, base layers, mid layers, lots and lots of layers...
    • Speaking of layers... Lots of different layers are key for staying comfortable in the Monashee backcountry. The weather can be unpredictable and you often warm up between runs so please be sure to bring layers!!
    • Sunscreen - believe it or not, you might need it. "We love bluebirds!"
    • Camera - this trip will be one to remember. If you want to focus on the skiing, we do have pro photographers who will capture the magic for you. You will get access to web resolution photos for free; high res can be purchased if you want to see them in print!
    • Good Attitude! :)

    • Lodge shoes - Keefer Lake Lodge is your home away from home so please bring a comfortable pair of indoor lodge shoes or slippers to keep your feet warm inside.
    • A swimsuit - Rest those sore pow-shredding muscles and utilize our Scandinavian inspired sauna or hot tub after a long day in the mountains.
    • Wi-Fi calling activated - enable your Wi-Fi calling settings while you are in service if you will want to use your phone while up at the lodge; your last chance for signal will be in Cherryville.

    Cancellation and Interruption Insurance

    Trip Cancellation/Interruption

Please spend a few moments to review and purchase a trip cancellation/interruption insurance policy. This will be the only option to obtain a full refund. We highly suggest making the decision to insure your trip early to protect you from the unexpected.

The amount of cancellation coverage is determined by the insured—however much or little of the expenses you wish to include. This is the coverage that will not only cover prior to your departure for covered cancellation reasons (i.e. unexpected illness/injury, unexpected death of immediate family member, etc.), but also cover the cost to return home in the event of an emergency, as well as reimburse any lost travel days due to travel/flight delays, injuries, unused portion of your trip, etc. No pre-existing unstable conditions will be covered, nor will any event that is known to the insured prior to purchasing the policy for which a claim is intended to be made for.

Our recommended provider Acera Insurance is a member of HeliCat Canada and can provide you with the exact coverage you need. For any questions regarding this coverage, please feel free to contact Acera Insurance at travel@acera.ca, or request a quote.

    Emergency Medical & Evacuation Insurance

    Emergency Medical & Evacuation Insurance

All Catskiing packages include insurance to cover the costs incurred due to an illness or injury that requires hospitalization or a doctor’s visit. This coverage will cover the cost of an air evacuation to the nearest hospital. It will also cover any gaps in coverage held by the insured (i.e. group health plans provided through work, personally held private plans) and act as the first responder in the event the insured does have an existing coverage plan, and look to be subrogated behind the scenes so that the insured does not have to pay at the time of injury or hospitalization. View the Emergency Medical and Evacuation Insurance policy here.
