Keefer Lake, BC Canada
Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge
Keefer Lake is a fabulous wilderness destination.
The mountain lake can be reached by following Highway 6 to Keefer Lake Road east of the town of Lumby B.C.
The access road is easily spotted off the North side of the highway near the Lost Lake rest area.
Keefer Lake is home to the wonderful Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge.
The resort offers full service cabins, camping, showers, a boat launch and dock.
Other services at the lake include hiking, fishing, and horseback riding in the nearby Monashee Mountains.
We have exciting plans to add even more recreation options – check back for updates throughout the year.
Spectacular Keefer Lake is in the heart of the Monashee Mountains. The high elevation of the lake may reduce the open water fishing season but it also helps ensure a good summertime fishery. Ice fishing can also be an exhilarating experience.
The lake is over 1km (0.6 mi) in length and reaches up to 12m (41) in depth. Both brook trout and rainbow trout are found in the lake. Most fish in the lake are 20-40 cm/ 6-15 inch range.
Some 2 kg (4.5 lb) monsters are caught annually.
Trolling is the preferred method of angling, although fly fishing can be quite productive.
Fly anglers should focus on the near inlet and outlet of the Kettle River. Try stripping various nymph patterns near the river areas. Trollers should try along the drop offs near the two deeper holes. Bucktails or smaller spoons like the Little Cleo have been known to produce well.
