Winter 2022 - Keefer Lake Catskiing

Winter 2022 Updates

Here at Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge, our intention is and always has been to welcome our guests to our beautiful lodge and lead them to the sweet, sweet Monashee powder they crave! We recognize there has been a lot of uncertainty with the upcoming ski season and we are hoping to alleviate some of your concerns.

In the event that the borders are shut back down, Keefer Lake Lodge will offer you a trip credit for later in the season or next season.

The trip Interruption and Cancellation insurance policy is your only option for a refund in any other circumstance.

January 2022 Update:

The current situation around the world is changing rapidly and so are our policies.

Here at the lodge, we are doing everything we can to keep you, our guest and our staff as safe as possible.  This includes conducting rapid tests upon your arrival and each morning of your tour.

Insurance companies have recently made changes to their policies and are insuring more Covid related issues than they were previously. We always encourage our guests to purchase Trip Cancellation as soon as possible. Trip Cancellation is intended to be purchased upon booking your trip and there may be restrictions on the policy if you are now looking to purchase your policy right before departure. Don’t delay and investigate your insurance options right away! Trip Cancellation is the best option to protect the investment in your trip.

In light of this, we have updated our Cancellation Policy to the following:

If you cannot get here because of:

  1. a border closure
  2. a lodge closure

We will roll your tour over to later in the season or next season.

Please contact Lifestyle Travel Insurance to insure your trip.

Thank you for understanding the importance of taking the necessary steps to protect your investment.

Important Travel Information

Travelling to Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge During Covid.

We cannot stress how important this information is, please read this email in its entirety.

Please ensure you understand how important it is that you comprehend and take ownership of what is expected of you to travel domestically and internationally during these uncertain times.

Vaccination Status

All guests of Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge are required to be vaccinated.

Residents of British Columbia are required to show proof of vaccination using the BC Vaccination Passport. Canadians from other provinces are required to show their equivalant proof of vaccination.

Traveling from the US and other Countries:

You must be fully vaccinated and have proof to get into Canada and back into the US. This will not change in the foreseeable future.

If you are travelling by air or land, you will need proof of a negative Covid PCR test 72 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight into Canada or when you cross the border by land. If your flight is delayed or cancelled, then your test is still good, as long as you received it 72 hours before your originally scheduled departure.

To get back into the US if you’re flying, you will need proof of a positive antigen or negative PCR test within one calendar day. The antigen test is faster and less expensive than the PCR test. Info on how to get your test below. No test is required if travelling by land.

Testing requirements could change; the vaccination requirement will not.

ARRIVECAN App and Travel Tips

The ArriveCAN is an app that logs your travel information and vaccination status. You should carry hard copies of your proof of vaccination and test results. Allow for extra time at every step of your journey.
The ArriveCAN App is required to gain entry into Canada.

All travelers, whether entering Canada by air, land, or marine vessel, must use ArriveCAN. No app is needed when returning to the US. You must submit your information within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada. Do not submit info outside of 72 hours before your trip.
This process is mandatory. If you fail to submit your information within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada, you will be denied boarding or entry if by land.

ArriveCAN will collect the following information:

  • Vaccination records – You must confirm both vaccination records by uploading two separate files. If your vaccination records are posted in a single document, upload the document twice.
  • Your quarantine plan – For most of our guests, “Hotel, motel or rental accommodation” is your plan in the event you are directed to quarantine while in Canada. This is unlikely, but possible. This is beyond our control.

Getting an antigen test before going back to the US

We can offer the rapid antigen tests at the lodge! The tests will be conducted in our first aid room, on site and you will be provided with a paper copy of your results before you leave!  This means that you will have everything required for entry to the US, BEFORE you leave the lodge- no need to worry about booking an appointment at the airport!

The test at the airport is the same price as it is at the lodge, $126 (including tax).

If the above option is not for you...You will need to schedule and pay for an appointment at the airport ahead of time. Make sure your appointment is after your arrival time of (6:30pm) in Kelowna. The testing site is at the airport, so schedule your appointment after you arrive at the airport or hotel. The results of the antigen test take anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

You should be aware that there are antigen test kits you can bring with you to the lodge, for example Qured. You buy the test kit, then make an appointment for less than 72 hours before the departure of your flight to the US. The test is carried out via an internet video call.

NOTE: There are issues with bandwidth at our lodges, especially when many guests are online. Compromised internet usually occurs in the morning, after skiing and after dinner. The best time to schedule an appt would be very early in the morning, during breakfast/dinner or very late at night.

We have not used these test kits. If the internet is slow or disconnects during your appointment, you could be out of luck. If you're going to go this route, you may want to make an appointment at the airport as a backup. Whitecap has a 24-hour cancellation policy.

Additional Info

Protocols in the lodges will depend on the protocols at the time as set by the BC Provincial Government and can change. You may have to wear a mask in certain parts of the lodge if you’re not eating or drinking. Then again, you may not. You should bring a small supply of your preferred masks to wear on the shuttle, in the cats and in the lodge.

Being prepared ahead of time is very important and will help your travel experience go more smoothly.

We are stoked to have you join us this year and look forward to some epic times at Keefer Lake!
