Head Chef

Job Summary 
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced culinary expert who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

  • Position Overview: As a seasoned professional with leadership experience in dining establishments, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of crucial aspects, including:
  • Innovative Menu Creation: Craft exceptional and innovative menus that resonate with our clientele, showcasing a commitment to flavor, innovation, and budget considerations.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee all facets of kitchen management, including budget and inventory management, SOP creation, and routine prep oversight and development.
  • Team Building and Training: Foster a collaborative and high-performing kitchen team through effective leadership, training, and team-building initiatives.
  • Regulatory and Licensing Oversight: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and licensing standards, demonstrating a meticulous approach to food safety planning.

Property/Facilities Manager

Type: Full-time | Renumeration: Competitive based on experience

Keefer is looking for an experienced Property Manager to come manage their beautiful off-grid property!

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Property Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Property Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and ongoing development of our backcountry resort and managing the property team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, be a strong leader, and have a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

Being completely off-grid a key responsibility for the Property Manager is managing and maintaining our off-grid power infrastructure systems which include: fuel powered generator systems, solar power, battery banks, and glycol heating systems.

This is a dynamic role the requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent problem-solving skills, and is physically fit and able to carry out all tasks on property.

As a small family-owned business, staff and managers alike are expected to be enthusiastic team players and be prepared and willing to take on any task required to achieve the goals of the operation, which is to create truly unforgettable and outstanding guest experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of onsite facilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to create and implement ongoing maintenance progammes and task lists
  • Oversee the daily, monthly and annual maintenance programmes
  • Manage WHIMIS documents and safety training
  • Manage staff daily and weekly tasks, provide strong leadership, and conduct training
  • Write and manage staff schedules in accordance with employment standards and business requirements
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors and contractors
  • Ensure safe operating procedures are carried out in the yard at all times
  • Prepare property for events:
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure an excellent guest experience

Requirements:

  • Maintenance experience in a commercial or hotel environment essential
  • Electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry training an asset
  • Experience with off-grid power systems an asset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experienced heavy duty equipment handler
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills, with great attention to detail
  • Experience managing a preventative property maintenance programs an asset
  • Competent using all Microsoft Office software including: Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • First Aid Certification an asset

Location:

Due to our remote, but breath-taking wilderness location of our lodge, staff must live on-site during their working shift rotations.

Summer Event Staff - BOH - Chefs/Prep/Line Cooks

Job Type: Casual | Renumeration: Competitive, based on experience

This summer Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge has a range of private events which will see us hosting events for 30-60 ppl over the course of 3 days.

For these events, we are looking for talented culinary experts to come and work adhoc events with our Head Chef, and be part of creating some exquiste food.

If you are interested in winter employment with us, this is also a great opportunity to come and meet the team and find out what Keefer is all about.

Job Summary:

We are looking for skilled cooks and chef with a minium of 1+ years experience in a professional kitchen environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience in fine dining establishments considered an asset
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification or higher - highly desireable
  • Must be able to take direction and have excellent attention to detail
  • Ideal applicants will be happy to support in all areas of the food service including: food prep, breakfast service & dinner service
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth event operations
  • Follow food safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment

Terms of Employment

  • Must have reliable vehicle to travel to and from the lodge
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Should be willing and able to stay on property during work shift rotations.

  • Event sizes range from 20-60 people and run typically for 3 days

    Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant

    Job Type: Full-time | Salary from: $22.50 per hour

    Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge is seeking an Event Coordinator / Guest Relations assistant to join the team. You would be responsible for developing, managing and assisting in year-round guest related events hosted at GKLL. This role requires a detail-oriented person who is willing and able to manage an event from start to finish and communicate with the facilitators, GKLL staff and guests.

    Skills:

    • Interested in planning and executing weddings, wellness retreats, adventure tourism events, festivals, corporate retreats and more
    • Assumes the role of the main point of contact between event facilitators and all GKLL departments on certain events, both in terms of pre-planning and on-site event co-ordination.
    • Works directly with clients on proposals, contracts, planning, set‐up, décor, cost & billing details and other requirements pertinent to their program
    • Promote GKLL as a premier destination for clients and vendors
    • Create and maintain a database of potential clients
    • Participate in weekly operations and events meetings with internal departments

    • Strong leadership ability with effective communication skills to relay concise direction Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant (Full-time)
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining physical stamina, a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contact
    • Work with marketing team to develop and coordinate marketing goals, strategies and content
    • Assist in website updates when needed
    • Create marketing content i.e. assist in social posts, copy writing, digital ads etc…
    • Willingness to jump in and help with any aspect of operations when needed

    Qualifications:

    • Event Management, Marketing Management, Communications or Hospitality certificate/diploma
    • 3-5 years’ experience in Event Management an asset.
    • Hospitality and/or adventure tourism experience an asset
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Word, and Excel
    • Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from the lodge. Accommodations will be provided on shift should you choose to stay.
    • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing and moving necessary to perform job duties
    • Open to working a diverse schedule to accommodate the event schedule
    • Ability to communicate fluently in English
    • Legally able to work in Canada

    Salary & Shifts:

    • $22.50-$26/hour plus gratuities, accommodations and meals whilst on shift
    • Variety of mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
