Lodge Manager

Job Summary:

The Lodge Manager at Keefer, is a dynamic role that requires an individual with a high level of organization, attention to detail and flexibility.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our beauty backcountry lodge, ensuring the high standards of the operation are maintained at all times.

Summer Event Staff - Lodge Hands

Keefer is looking for experienced hospitality professionals to come work adhoc private events this summer.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Lodge Management team, Lodge Hands are responsible assisting the lodge management team with creating and delivering outstanding hospitality experiences. This role is a dynamic role that includes a range of responsibilities related to maintaining a high-end hospitality venue. The ideal candidates will enjoy variety at work, enjoy being on their feet and working in a fast paced environment, and will take great pride in delivering excellency.

Working in a backcountry resort requires a team orientated approach to work and a willingness to take on any task required to help the lodge succeed. Lodge Hands, should be willing and prepared to jump into any role within the lodge operations team, to ensure an overall outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the lodge in a positive and engaging manner
  • Set-up dining rooms and other food service areas for different meal periods
  • Take orders from guests for food and beverage
  • Provide a high standard of service during meal service.
  • Provide beverage service as needed and maintain a good knowledge of our bar and wine menu
  • Clean-up dining room and assist with dishes after food service
  • Assist in the kitchen as required (includes food prep, dishwashing etc.)
  • Maintain the cleanliness of workspaces and the lodge in general
  • Assist bartender with beverage preparation as needed
  • Perform housekeeping duties throughout the property including cleaning of guest rooms, changing rooms, cleaning common areas and staff accommodations
  • Maintain stock of housekeeping and service supplies and communicate needs to management
  • Assist with the organization, stock take and ordering for the retail store, FOH wares, Bar items as requested
  • Perform any other duties required around the lodge as required for business operations

Summer Operations

  • Knowledge of general guest information including dietary’s, the lodge and weather
  • Knowledge of the food & beverage programme, and corresponding menus

Shift Availability

  • Shifts are available based on event size, duration. Upon successful completion of our interview process, shifts would be offered to you based on your skillset and availability.
  • Shifts will typically be 20-40 hrs per shift, working across 2-3 days, working upto 10 hours per day.
  • Onsite staff accommodation and meals are supplied while working.

*Keefer Lake lodge is located 14km down a logging road. Staff are required to have a reliable vehicle to get them to and from work. The road is regularly graded so is accessible via 2wd and 4wd drive vehicles.

Property/Facilities Manager

Type: Full-time | Renumeration: Competitive based on experience

Keefer is looking for an experienced Property Manager to come manage their beautiful off-grid property!

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Property Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Property Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and ongoing development of our backcountry resort.. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, be a strong leader, and have a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

Being completely off-grid a key responsibility for the Property Manager is managing and maintaining our off-grid power infrastructure systems which include: fuel powered generator systems, solar power, battery banks, and glycol heating systems.

This is a dynamic role that requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent problem-solving skills, and is physically fit and able to carry out all tasks on property.

As a small family-owned business, staff and managers alike are expected to be enthusiastic team players and be prepared and willing to take on any task required to achieve the goals of the operation, which is to create truly unforgettable and outstanding guest experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of onsite facilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to create and implement ongoing maintenance progammes and task lists
  • Oversee the daily, monthly and annual maintenance programmes
  • Manage WHIMIS documents and safety training
  • Manage staff daily and weekly tasks, provide strong leadership, and conduct training
  • Write and manage staff schedules in accordance with employment standards and business requirements
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors and contractors
  • Ensure safe operating procedures are carried out in the yard at all times
  • Prepare property for events:
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure an excellent guest experience

Requirements:

  • Maintenance experience in a commercial or hotel environment essential
  • Electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry training an asset
  • Experience with off-grid power systems an asset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experienced heavy duty equipment handler
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills, with great attention to detail
  • Experience managing a preventative property maintenance programs an asset
  • Competent using all Microsoft Office software including: Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • First Aid Certification an asset

Summer Event Staff - BOH - Chefs/Prep/Line Cooks

Job Type: Casual | Renumeration: Competitive, based on experience

Are you a skilled Chef who enjoys creating exquisite menus, in beautiful locations, with talented individuals?

This summer Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge has a range of private events which will see us hosting events for 30-60 ppl over the course of 3 days.

For these events, we are looking for talented culinary experts to come and work adhoc events with our Head Chef, and be part of creating some exquiste food.

Job Summary:

We are looking for skilled cooks and chef with a minium of 1+ years experience in a professional kitchen environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience in fine dining establishments considered an asset
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification or higher - highly desireable
  • Must be able to take direction and have excellent attention to detail
  • Ideal applicants will be happy to support in all areas of the food service including: food prep, breakfast service & dinner service
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth event operations
  • Follow food safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment

Terms of Employment

  • Must have reliable vehicle to travel to and from the lodge

    Yard Crew / General Labourer

    We are looking for general labourers who enjoy working outdoors, managing grounds, and assisting on projects to come and assist our property team in maintaining our beautiful backcountry resort.

    Summer

    • Landscaping
    • Grass cutting
    • General property mainteance tasks as directed
    • Assisting Carpenter on projects
    • Assisting in other departments as required*

    Winter

    • Snow shovelling,
    • Ice and snow management
    • Wood chopping
    • General onsite maintenance

    * As a small family run operation it is important for staff to be prepared and willing to work in other departments as required, according to business needs. This may include assisting in the kitchen and/or the lodge on occasions. In such circumstances, training will be provided as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be fit and able to carry out physically demanding tasks
    • Experience driving & handling heavy duty equipment & machinery an asset!
    • Experience gardenging, landscaping and operating mowers an asset
    • Must have reliable vehicle to travel 14km down Keefer Lake road to and from work. which is accessible via both 4wd and 2wd vehicles.

    Salary and Shifts:

    • Wage: $18-$22/hour, based on experience, and skillset
    • Shift rotations may vary according to business needs but typically follow 4 days on / 3 days off working upto 40-hours per week.
