Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant

Full Time

Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge is seeking an Event Coordinator / Guest Relations assistant to join the team. You would be responsible for developing, managing and assisting in year-round guest related events hosted at GKLL. This role requires a detail-oriented person who is willing and able to manage an event from start to finish and communicate with the facilitators, GKLL staff and guests.

Skills:

  • Interested in planning and executing weddings, wellness retreats, adventure tourism events, festivals, corporate retreats and more
  • Assumes the role of the main point of contact between event facilitators and all GKLL departments on certain events, both in terms of pre-planning and on-site event co-ordination.
  • Works directly with clients on proposals, contracts, planning, set‐up, décor, cost & billing details and other requirements pertinent to their program
  • Promote GKLL as a premier destination for clients and vendors

  • Participate in weekly operations and events meetings with internal departments

  • Strong leadership ability with effective communication skills to relay concise direction Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant (Full-time)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining physical stamina, a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contact
  • Work with marketing team to develop and coordinate marketing goals, strategies and content
  • Assist in website updates when needed
  • Create marketing content i.e. assist in social posts, copy writing, digital ads etc…
  • Willingness to jump in and help with any aspect of operations when needed

Qualifications:

  • Event Management, Marketing Management, Communications or Hospitality certificate/diploma
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Event Management an asset.
  • Hospitality and/or adventure tourism experience an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Word, and Excel
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from the lodge. Accommodations will be provided on shift should you choose to stay.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing and moving necessary to perform job duties
  • Open to working a diverse schedule to accommodate the event schedule
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Legally able to work in Canada

Salary & Shifts:

  • $22.50-$26/hour plus gratuities, accommodations and meals
  • Variety of mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays

Massage Therapist

The Massage Therapist is to perform professional massage treatments to our Catskiing guests. This position is also responsible for preparing all daily massage equipment and supplies as well as pre-booking any massage requests.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a warm and inviting atmosphere, welcoming guests and introducing massage procedures.
  • Offer professional massage treatments in accordance with accepted certification practices.
  • Be flexible with your schedule to support the needs of the guests.
  • Handle guest questions and concerns professionally, and courteously.
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients, management and co-workers.
  • Able to connect, inform, and generate guests’ interest to ensure bookings.
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Qualifications Previous experience in deep tissue and sports therapy is required.
  • RMT license is not required.
  • Experience leading an independent massage practice is an asset.
  • Passion for working with people and the outdoors.
  • Multiple Languages, an asset.

Housekeepers

Housekeepers provide cleaning service to all Lodge accommodations and common areas daily. Excellent attention to detail and following procedures is paramount. Maintenance and cleanliness play an important part in the services we provide to our guests and must be maintained at the highest standards. Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning the guest rooms, main lodge, dining room, lounge and sauna while doing laundry and inventory of supplies.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
  • Energetic and upbeat, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Friendly personality with a genuine desire to help and please others.
  • Take pride in doing the job well and with a keen eye for detail.
  • Able to perform the same tasks repeatedly with satisfaction.
  • Flexible with a positive attitude.
  • Be physically fit to fulfill this position, including reaching and bending to clean, as well as climbing stairs.
  • Able to perform heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Passion for working with people and the outdoors is an asset.
  • Prepared for and excited about, living in a remote lodge environment.

Food & Beverage Server

Under the direction of the Lodge Manager, and Assistant Lodge Manager, Servers are to provide timely, accurate and friendly service while ensuring that our guests have the best dining experiences.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a warm and inviting atmosphere, welcoming guests into the Dining Room.
  • Serving guests meals and beverages in the dining room and accurately recording all transactions.
  • Good knowledge of our wine menu and evening dinner menu.
  • General knowledge of guests’ allergies and dietary needs. Follow designated dining room procedures.
  • Complete assigned duties within each shift.
  • Maintain personal appearance and dress code standards.
  • Have all supplies stocked and organized in advance of opening.
  • Ensure the Dining Room is always clean, including tables, chairs, floors and service areas.
  • Regularly bus tables to keep them clean and tidy.
  • Stock the fridge daily and keep track of inventory.
  • Putting away new inventory in the appropriate locations for safe storage.
  • Ensure that all patrons ordering alcohol are of 19 years of age or older, following Provincial Law.
  • Obtain knowledge of all aspects of Lodge Information.
  • Maintain positive communication with supervisor and co-workers and encourage a team atmosphere.
  • Report to managers when something is broken or in need of repair.
  • Handle all guest service issues in an immediate and gracious manner.
  • Possess a good knowledge of the wine stock on hand with the ability to make appropriate wine suggestions and pairings to the daily menu.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Lodge Manager or Assistant Lodge Manager.

  • Prior Hotel and/guest service experience.
